Valentine's Day Self-care Tips

valentines day

This Valentine's Day, not only should you be thinking of that special someone, but yourself as well! February can easily be a month for you to unwind and give in to some much needed pampering.

Both your body and mind will thank you for taking the time to put your needs first! The following tips are easy to integrate into your day and will help with your overall ability to relax and de-stress.

Finding the time for "me. myself, and I" will help you to feel more fulfilled and calm on busy days. Your number one romance this Valentine's Day should be with yourself!

Indulge

It's okay to spoil yourself now and then! Break open that box of chocolates and taste test as many different flavours as your heart desires. Or allow yourself to buy that pair of shoes you've had your eye on for the past few weeks. There's no reason to deprive yourself of some comforts, especially if your main priority has been catering to others!

Practice a Hobby You Haven't Had the Time For

self care tip: practice a hobby

Love to hike or scrapbook but just haven't been able to work it into your schedule lately? Doing the things that we like and that make us happy creates positivity and increases morale! Make a promise to yourself this month to recognise the importance of doing the things that you like and make it happen!

Lounge Around the House

Showing yourself some love means doing whatever makes you happy and not having to worry about the opinions of others! Put on your comfiest pyjamas and relax around the house. Pick up the book that has been taking you forever to finish because you never have the time to read or flick on the T.V and put on the movie that your partner or family keeps refusing to watch, but you've been dying to see. Make this day all about you!

Pamper your Heart

If you have been working a lot and not getting much quality time with family and friends, help fill your heart by setting aside some time to spend with the people you love. You can either plan a full day of activities, just a night in together, or make a phone call to someone you've been missing! Surrounding yourself with the people you love can easily help to relax you and increase your happiness.

Be Extra Nice to your Body

Use this month to think about the strain that has been put on your body. There are a plethora of ways that you can minimize the tension you might have been feeling recently!

  • Meditate: Release your worries and decompress your mind. All you need is a nice quiet place to sit and focus on your breathing!

  • Take a Hot Bath: This is the perfect place for some alone time to just simply relax and allow your body to rejuvenate. Try adding some fragrances or bath salts to increase your relaxing experience!

  • Try a Massage: Lay back and allow the tightness in your muscles to gently melt away. Immediately after your body will feel re-energized and up for anything!

Practice Self Love

It's time to start really appreciating yourself! Look into a mirror and rather than focusing on your self-perceived flaws, list all of the things you love and value about yourself. Make sure to focus on both physical and non-physical aspects, as everything about you is important! Although a small gesture, the littlest reminders can make the biggest impact! Also take this time to think about your goals and aspirations!

self love

The love you have for yourself is always a top priority, and can get you where you need to be!
